Vice President – Capital Management and Corporate DevelopmentRole & Responsibilities:
As Vice President – Capital Management and Corporate Development, Carlos is responsible for capital management and corporate development at Pan-American Life. This includes organic growth initiatives, mergers & acquisitions and financing alternatives.
Career:
Carlos joined Pan-American Life in 2012 and prior that was a Director in the Financial Institutions Investment Banking Group at Merrill Lynch where he was responsible for origination and execution of mergers & acquisitions and capital markets transactions. Notable transactions during this time include the reorganization and re-IPO of AIG in 2010-2011; the IPO and subsequent capital market transactions of Verisk Analytics; the sale of Philadelphia Insurance Consolidated, First Mercury, Ohio Casualty and Rosemont Re; and a multitude of capital raising transactions for Hartford Financial, Protective Insurance, Lincoln Financial, StanCorp, Pacific Life and State Farm among others. Carlos is also Systems Engineer and prior to his career in the insurance industry he worked in the design, build and implementation of machinery control systems for the defense, aerospace, automotive and manufacturing industry.
Education:
Carlos received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico. He also holds a Master of Sciences in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from General Motors Institute and an MBA from University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
