As you know, September is Life Insurance Awareness Month—which is always a good time to pause for reflection. This year, I would like to honor the remarkable agents and brokers who have worked so tirelessly, under unprecedented conditions, to service their clients, while continuing to provide members of their communities with invaluable life insurance protection.
Look how far we’ve come in the last six months—in large part to your commitment, optimism, and discipline. As a team, we have learned how to adapt to wildly‑changing conditions, such as conducting business remotely, while providing clients with the information, reassurance, and support they need most during this difficult time.
As you may recall, back in April, we found ourselves short of our sales target. That was to be expected, given the scope of the pandemic. At the end of the second quarter, our sales results increased by 5% over prior year. What a comeback! Your steady production is a testament to your extraordinary determination, professionalism, and focus.
In addition, despite the fact that you are working so vigorously, many of you are still finding the time to take advantage of our Webinar series. We are delighted that you are motivated to increase your product knowledge, finetune your selling strategies, and leverage all available PALIG sales tools. We will continue to provide you useful information and actionable ideas, and we hope you continue to take advantage of it.
We take heart in the fact that you’re so passionate about educating your clients and prospects regarding the unique benefits of life insurance in its various forms. Certainly, in the wake of COVID‑19, life insurance has achieved new appreciation and prominence. 
The pandemic has reminded us of the fragility of life, of the need to plan for the future and protect our families in case the unthinkable happens. In addition, the cash values accumulated in whole and universal life insurance policies is allowing policyholders experiencing financial hardship and job loss to access much‑needed funds that enable them to stay on their feet.
Virtually every industry has been changed, for better or worse, by COVID‑19. My sense is that the life and health insurance industry will be stronger for it in general, and Pan‑American Life Insurance Group in particular, is well‑positioned to emerge stronger than ever.
For more than 100 years, PALIG has worked to earn the trust of millions of policyholders. Thank you for continuing that tradition, by providing your clients with trusted financial security and peace of mind at a time when they need it most.
