San Salvador – With 98 years of presence in the country, Pan‑American Life Insurance Group (PALIG) expects to close 2026 with approximately US$53 million in premiums written, building on average annual growth of nearly 6% over the past five years and further strengthening its position in El Salvador’s life and health insurance market.
This projection builds on the company’s solid performance in the country in recent years. At the close of 2025, Pan‑American Life reported US$48.9 million in premiums across life, health, and personal accident insurance, as well as an asset base exceeding US$62 million, reflecting the company’s financial strength and its capacity to continue driving growth in the Salvadoran market.
Today, the company protects more than 135,000 insured individuals and provides coverage to more than 530 companies in El Salvador.
“At PALIG, we firmly believe in El Salvador’s potential and remain committed to the country for the long term. We support its development through innovative products, service excellence, and solutions that help foster a stronger culture of protection and financial security,” said José S. Suquet, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Pan‑American Life Insurance Group.
For Pan‑American Life, El Salvador is a strategic market within its Latin American and Caribbean operations. The company sees opportunities for continued growth as awareness increases around the importance of protecting people’s health, assets, and financial well‑being, as well as that of their families.
While El Salvador’s insurance market has maintained a positive growth trajectory, significant opportunities remain to increase insurance penetration in the country. According to information shared by the company, market premiums exceeded US$900 million in 2024, representing growth of nearly 5% compared with the previous year. However, insurance penetration stood at approximately 2.6% of GDP.
In addition, data from the Salvadoran Association of Insurance Companies cited by the company indicates that only 21% of Salvadorans have some form of private insurance. This points to considerable potential to expand access to protection solutions while strengthening financial education and a culture of prevention.
“We are building on a solid operation with a long‑term vision. This projection reflects the confidence our clients have placed in us while also challenging us to bring protection solutions to more Salvadorans. We see significant growth opportunities in health and individual life insurance, as well as in the small and medium‑sized business segment,” said María Teresa Bolaños, General Manager and Chair of the Board of Pan American Life S.A., Seguros de Personas in El Salvador.
“As part of its growth strategy, Pan‑American Life will continue strengthening its individual health and life insurance offerings in response to growing demand for solutions that help people prepare for unexpected events, protect their families’ financial well‑being, and access quality healthcare services,” said Alfredo Ramírez, Regional Vice President of Country Management at Pan‑American Life Insurance Group.
Small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) represent another strategic segment for the company. Over the past three years, Pan‑American Life has strengthened its value proposition for this sector in response to increasing interest among businesses in offering health, life, and wellness benefits that help attract and retain talent.
Group and multinational business will also remain a cornerstone of Pan‑American Life’s operations in El Salvador. This segment helps the company maintain a diversified portfolio while supporting organizations of different sizes with comprehensive solutions that promote employee well‑being and protection.
As part of this growth strategy, the company also continues to enhance the customer experience through digital portals, streamlined processes, and the modernization of its technology infrastructure. These initiatives are designed to simplify transactions and inquiries while enabling the company to provide faster, more efficient, and more personalized service.
With more than 110 years of history in Latin America and the Caribbean and 98 years of presence in El Salvador, Pan‑American Life reaffirms its long‑term commitment to growth in the country through a strategy that combines financial strength, innovation, service excellence, and greater access to protection solutions.
