Position: Individual Life Underwriter

Location: Trinidad and Tobago
JOB SUMMARY 
The incumbent is required to review policy documents to ensure compliance with Company guidelines (both underwriting and compliance) with the aim of assessing and classifying risk. The incumbent will be required to complete all necessary processes for counter proposals to be communicated to client/agent. Cross referencing of claims history for all new applicants. 
RESPONSIBILITIES 
  1. Underwrite: POS, GROUP & New applications with Medical/Non‑Medical requirements 
    • Approves within underwriting limits. 
    • Makes recommendations for cases above limits. 
    • Requests requirements.
    • Refers to Manager/Senior or Medical Consultant. 
    • Refers to Manager/Supervisor or Chief Underwriter cases above limit for Approval.
    • Liaises with Claims Department, Agency Services and other Insurance Companies.
  2. Updates Change Management System for each Application. 
  3.  Completes and submits workflows. 
  4. Updates cases to be filed Incomplete. 
  5. Liaises with Claims Department for claims history, checks relevant systems for previous claims and previous insurance, complete required forms and document findings.  
  6. Performs any other related duties as required.  
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 
  • Five (5) G.C.E./ C.X.C. Subjects, Biology; Mathematics & English Compulsory.  
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Life Underwriter.  
  • LOMA Level 1 (Part 280 & 290); 2&3 and ACS or intention to complete within 1 Year.  
  • ALU Level 1 would be an asset. 
  • Experience with MS Office Suite and ability to adapt to different types of technology and systems.
