Pan-American Life was launched in Central America in 1914 when the company selected a General Agency in Guatemala to do business in that country.
In the following years, the general agency also began operations in Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador. In the mid-1900s, all Central American countries started to pass insurance laws. Pan-American Life adapted to these new laws, clearing the way for the changes that the countries were requiring. In every country, the general agencies were eventually converted into branches or subsidiaries/affiliates and in 1957, Compañía de Seguros Panamericana, S.A. was established.
Now with 55 years of presence in Guatemala and taking advantage of the new provisions of the new insurance law put in place in 2011, Seguros Panamericana S.A. changes its name to become Pan-American Life Insurance of Guatemala, insurance company S.A., leader in life insurance and health, with a large and profitable portfolio of investments in the Guatemalan market.
