Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG), a leading provider of life and health insurance in Latin America and the U.S., announced today that Robert DiCianni has been named to the position of Senior Vice President Latin America.
Mr. DiCianni succeeds Eugenio Magdalena who is on permanent medical leave following an unfortunate accident. In his role, Mr. DiCianni will be based in Panama, overseeing all of Pan-American Life’s businesses in Latin America while building on the Group’s strategic business plan and growth strategy in the region.
Mr. DiCianni is an insurance industry veteran with more than 20 years experience in the U.S. and Latin America. He began his career as a group underwriter with Prudential Financial before accepting a senior underwriter position with AIG where he found his niche in the international arena and ascended to company manager positions in Uruguay and Panama, and Vice President and Regional Director for the Group Management Division, responsible for twelve countries in Latin America. In 2009, Mr. DiCianni served as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of ALICO Mexico, a subsidiary of American Life Insurance Company (ALICO) overseeing all of the business lines in the country. During his time with the company he led a major turnaround and in less than two years profitably grew the business that traditionally produced multimillion dollar losses. Additionally, he held an active role in the merger of the Met Life ALICO Mexico businesses.
